“This brings us to a further question. Is it sufficient, to become a Freemason, only to be considered “a free and moral man”? Can one join Freemasonry only because he “believes” in it? I am convinced it is not enough and it is necessary that this man has in himself an intuition, an ambition to knowledge, a peculiar spiritual behaviour, a strong will of the intellect, a sensibility and a predisposition of the soul and love for knowledge.”
“In the vacuum of the traditional values the only representative of the Tradition remains the Promethean figure of the Freemason, a man who tries to defend his space and his time, master of his own existence. According to the philosopher José Ortega y Gasset, in his “The Revolt of the Masses”, each civilization lies in a condition of fundamental insecurity and needs a persevering commitment in order not to decay in barbarism; such effort can be necessarily supported by men willing to live according to duties and imperatives.
These men have represented the aristocracy of each society and this is the role to which the “Freemason” is called.”
- The Most Worshipful Bro. Fabio Venzi, Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Italy

From Brother Chip: “There are huge barns to camp and park in. There is a ski lake for those that will be on jet ski’s. Hollywood talked about two places to camp, one was near all the action and another was down by the lake. There are numerous campgrounds, hotels, and cabins within a few miles. We will post more details after Hawg Valley. As an aside there are a lot of activities in the area. Canoeing, caves, museums, good riding through the hills and we were planning on meeting up with the FMRC for a breakfast and ride if you are all up for it. They are having their Rally at the HUB in Harrison and had expressed an interest in getting together.”

Well, we are all back safe and in one piece after one hell of a weekend in Kentucky! A bunch of Brothers from Illinois went down to the Hawg Valley Rally in Graham, Kentucky last weekend. After a very, very looooong ride down (one Brother had just rebuilt his engine, so nothing over 60mph…) we arrived at the Rally Friday afternoon and set up shop.
We had the privilege of meeting a heck of a lot of Brothers from all parts at the Rally. We met Brothers from Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Missouri, and Indiana. What an inspiring and awesome display of Brotherly Love.
We partied well into Friday night and woke up bright and early Saturday, when we took off to visit the Brethren hosting the Thunder on the Trace Ride in Paducah (90 miles away). We hung out for a bit and were able to meet the Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons of Kentucky who was gracious enough to lend his support by making time in his very busy schedule to make an appearance. We were very impressed and honored. That was a really big, big deal and I am humbled and honored that the Brothers in Kentucky are doing so well!
We then went back to the Rally and proceeded to party on into Sunday. What a great time! Fun and fellowship were enjoyed by all and now I know why this is an annual event for the Chicago Chapter! This was the first time I was able to go due to my military service obligations and I wasn’t let down! DAMN!
Just gotta stay away from that moonshine….
Pics are coming soon.

Ted
